Brazilian esports organization FURIA is the latest to leave Rainbow Six Siege esports. On Monday (as first reported by Siege.gg), FURIA Founder and Co-CEO Jaime Pádua announced via social media that the organization would be leaving the scene it joined in 2020. He added that FURIA could return to Rainbow Six Siege esports in the future and that the team will remain “linked to FURIA” until it can find a new organization willing to take up its players and staff.
In a rather lengthy statement on social media, Pádua highlighted a number of reason why his organization decided to leave the scene, most notably a lack of support from publisher Ubisoft as it relates to generating additional revenue for the team:
“When we are unable to adequately monetize the game, we have to compensate for this failure in indirect ways, a fact that we manage to do very well in other sports. However, to do so, it is essential that Publisher[s] be more effective in taking the game to the maximum possible audience and exposure, so that brands and sponsors feel more attracted to the connection. Unfortunately we went far from that in the R6. Thus brands and sponsors feel more attracted to the connection. Unfortunately we went far from that in the R6.”
FURIA is the second team to leave the scene in recent weeks: North American esports organization TSM announced last week that it was leaving Rainbow Six Siege esports as well. FURIA and TSM also announced last week that they were leaving the Free Fire Mobile esports scene in Brazil due to a lack of developer support and communication.
