Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG) and ESPORTSU announced Friday that OpTic Gaming-owned esports venue Esports Stadium Arlington (in Arlington, Texas) will serve as the host of the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup (CECC) Texas Finals from May 6-7. CECC Texas will see 64 teams from colleges throughout the U.S. come together to compete in a variety of games including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and Valorant.

Organizers of CECC Texas say that it will open the competition on May 5 with a red carpet ceremony welcoming student-athletes who will receive commemorative jerseys and participate in media day events. On May 6, qualifying rounds will be held leading to semi-final, finals, and grand finals on May 7.

Regional qualifiers (“Road to CECC Texas”) will continue in March. The road to get to CECC Texas began with CECC South in October (an online event) and CECC East in November (an in-person LAN event at Rutgers University). The next qualifying event takes place at CECC West from March 4-5, at Boise State University—taking place during the 2023 Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. This event will be followed by CECC Midwest from March 25-26, followed by an official seeding announced during the “Seed Selection Show” on May 2.

In addition to competitions, CECC Texas will also feature partner activations, a cosplay costume contests, esports celebrity meet & greets, a technology expo and a live college esports awards show presented by ESPORTSU.

Sponsors and partners are to be announced at a later date.
