GameSquare-owned marketing and advertising agency Zoned announced Tuesday that it has partnered with 5-hour ENERGY for a new streamer community competition called Flavor Wars, utilizing a custom Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) map.
Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed
Zoned claims in its announcement that this competition is an alternative to traditional advertising because “gaming audiences prefer interactive and native ways of brand engagement over traditional ads.”
The Flavor Wars custom Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) map launches at 10:30 a.m. PST on Tuesday (today), with players competing in battle royale-style on the custom-built map created by Zoned, divided into three zones representing the 5-hour ENERGY Gamer Shot flavors—Apple Bash, Pineapple Charge, and Rocket Raspberry.
For the competition, team captains and Fortnite streamers CouRage, LEGIQN, and Sparkles_QT, will lead teams of five through 12 rounds in a “Zone Wars” game mode. During the rounds, players collect in-game 5-hour ENERGY power-ups “to enhance specific in-game abilities.” The winning team will claim part of the $10K USD grand prize.
To join the battle, players should search for “Flavor Wars” or use map code 9664-6397-4487 in the Fortnite search bar. The competition will be live-streamed on participating streamers’ Twitch channels starting Tuesday.
