David Meltzer Joins Global Gaming League Board

Global Gaming League has added Sports 1 Marketing Founder and The Playbook Podcast host David Meltzer to its board of directors. He joins Jermaine Dupri, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive, and the founder of So So Def, who joined the board last week; and chairman of the board Jeff Hoffman—the founder and former CEO of Priceline.com and Booking.com.

Global Gaming League hasn’t formally announced its existence or what its mission statement is, but from what we can tell, the company will explore the intersections between gaming, culture, and competition. The company’s first stab at tapping into gaming culture will have a focus on celebrity competition—it recently revealed via social media an exhibition gaming event called Everybody Games.

Everybody Games will feature a team fronted by T-Pain called Nappy Boy Gaming vs Bryce Hall’s Hall Pass Gaming. The competition will be hosted by Nick Cannon, will feature Jermaine Dupri, and offer a halftime show with Soulja Boy. That will take place on Aug. 10, at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas. The event is invite-only, but it is likely there are plans to broadcast it on popular streaming platforms (details on that have not been disclosed, as of this writing). Sponsors and other details are to be announced.

Global Gaming League currently has more than a dozen employees including Clinton Spark, CEO and founder of the company—a former XSET co-founder and FaZe Clan VP of business development; Matthew Archambault, chief revenue officer—former Riot Games head of commercial partnerships for the Americas + Oceania; T-Pain, chief strategy officer—and a Grammy Award-winning artist, writer, and producer; Gracia Mboko, director of investment relations—also the founder & CEO of Athlete Edge Capital, director capital markets at Whitestone & Co, and a former team lead at Salesforce; Brandon Veldman, chief data & AI officer—also the founder and managing partner at Pathfinder Ventures; Stefan Whitwell, chief financial officer—also founder and chief investment officer of Whitwell & Co.; Philip Gordon, head of legal—former chief legal officer at FaZe Clan; Michael Fuller, EVP of operations—a former VP at Warner Gaming and Angel Management Group; Jason Craig, EVP of marketing—former director of entertainment at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas; and Shirin Heidari, chief technology officer—a software engineer who has worked for multiple startups including Instalinko and WithdrawBitClout, among others.

Editor’s note: The last paragraph was edited after publication to make correction to Clinton Spark’s status as the founder of the company; an earlier iteration listed him as a co-founder. We also removed the name of a person no longer with the company in the last paragraph.
