PGL Dota 2 Wallachia Season #2 Details Revealed

International tournament organizer PGL announced Wednesday the first details on its next major Dota 2 event, PGL Dota 2 Wallachia Season #2. Taking place in Bucharest, Romania, at the PGL Studios from Oct. 4-13, and featuring a $1M USD total prize pool, Wallachia Season #2 will feature 10 invited professional teams and other teams that earn a spot through regional qualifiers.

The invited teams include Team Liquid, Team Falcons, Team Spirit, Xtreme Gaming, HEROIC, nouns, G2 x iG, Tundra Esports, Cloud9 BC.GAME, and PSG Quest. The remaining slots will be earned through regional qualifiers: six (6) squads will win in the Open and Closed Qualifiers. Open Qualifiers will run between Aug. 9-12, with Closed Qualifiers running from Aug. 14-17. Registrations for the Open Qualifiers are now live in the following regions (China will be added at a later date, according to PGL):

South America:

  • Open Qualifier #1
  • Open Qualifier #2

Southeast Asia

  • Open Qualifier #1
  • Open Qualifier #2

Eastern Europe

  • Open Qualifier #1

  • Open Qualifier #2

A total of 16 teams will head to Romania to compete in a Swiss format Group Stage, where they will slug it out to secure one of the top eight spots for the Playoffs. The Playoffs will follow a double-elimination format, with all matches played as best-of-three (BO3), leading to a best-of-five (BO5) Final, with the winner taking the lion’s share of the overall prize pool.

  • 2025 PGL Tournament #1 – March 6-15 | Qualifiers – Jan. 5-12.
  • 2025 PGL Tournament #2 – April 18-27 | Qualifiers – Feb. 1-8.
  • 2025 PGL Tournament #3 – November 10-23 | Qualifiers – Sept. 21-28.
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #1 – March 6-15 | Qualifiers – Jan. 4-11.
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #2 – April 17-26 | Qualifier – March 22-29.
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #3 – November 6-15 | Qualifier – Sept. 27 – Oct. 4.
