ProGuides Users to Transition to Coachify Under New Deal

ProGuides owner Aimlabs (a subsidiary of Statespace) announced a new partnership with game coaching platform Coachify related to its coaching platform ProGuides.

On April 24, The Esports Advocate reported that ProGuides would be shutting down at the end of May and this new deal indicates that our reporting was true.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Through this new partnership, Coachify will help ProGuides users (coaches and students) transition to its platform and provide some incentives for moving including a premium subscription for one month (which is priced at $25 a month).

So how will this move from one platform to the other work? Coachify Co-Founder and CEO Joshua Hilton tells TEA that when coaches opt-in their student purchase history and reviews will be transferred over to Coachify. Coachify will also honor any credits students still have left over on ProGuides for up to a year, according to Hilton, but they will need to spend them with coaches that have a Coachify Premium account. Coaches will also receive a special badge/certification on Coachify showing that they were previously accepted to the ProGuides platform.

Finally, Hilton mentioned that Coachify recently implemented PayPal integration into its free tier, so any coach can create a public profile and take payments through our site without any fees or commission:

“Because our PayPal integration allows the student to purchase directly from the coach, we don’t sit in the middle of that transaction,” Hilton said. “It’s better for the coach since they don’t have to wait on cash-outs and it’s less support work for us. Both sides of the market are online-native and it’s super easy for them to take the relationship out of the platform, once the relationship is made. That’s also why we even have a way for coaches to track payments that didn’t happen on our platform.”

More details on the services Coachify provides to both students and gaming coaches can be found at coachify.gg.

Founded in 2015 by Sam Wang and Kristoph Oedman, ProGuides is an esports and game training platform that connects gamers directly with professional players and coaches for one-on-one, on-demand coaching services to improve their skills in the top competitive games such as Valorant, League of Legends, Call of Duty, CS:GO, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, and Rocket League, among others. Prior to being acquired in November 2021 by Aimlabs owner Statespace (for an undisclosed amount), ProGuides managed to raise an estimated $7.4M USD across three funding rounds.
