Call of Duty: Mobile Tournament Carry1st Africa Cup Announced

Africa-based mobile games publisher Carry1st announced Friday the launch of the Carry1st Africa Cup, a Call of Duty: Mobile tournament offering a $15K USD total prize pool open to top Call of Duty: Mobile players and teams from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Following online qualifying rounds, the top teams (champions) from each supported region will take part in an in-person grand finals event (at a location to be determined). The tournament will also award $1K to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the grand finals, with MVP prizes being provided across all regional matches as well.

Registration for the Carry1st Africa Cup will open on May 27 via the Carry1st website, with participating teams consisting of five players. Registered teams will receive “special lobby codes” for qualifying matches, where they will face off against other teams to secure a spot in the grand finals.

Carry1st says that the qualification stages will run throughout June and July, culminating in a grand final in August, with regional champions taking part. Carry1st added that it will “support any travel arrangements for teams unable to travel for the finals, ensuring that all qualifying teams can participate.”

In case you are not familiar with the company, Carry1st is an Africa-based mobile games publisher that “develops, licenses, and publishes games” and further monetizes them using its payments and marketplace platform Pay1st. Founded in 2018, the company has secured investments from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), BITKRAFT, Google, and Riot Games, among others.
