Esports organization FaZe Clan announced Tuesday that it will continue its weekly gaming competition “FaZe Fridays” in 2024, and plans to award more than $1M USD in cash prizes this year. FaZe said in a release that the decision to continue FaZe Fridays in 2024 was driven by the “massive viewership and engagement numbers” it achieved across its first four events.

The first four FaZe Fridays competitions sponsored by Xfinity saw more 82M minutes watched and over 20M impressions across social media platforms, according to FaZe. Faze added that the prize money its plans to award players is being provided by key partners and sponsors, and that the new series will unlock “a multimillion-dollar revenue opportunity for FaZe Clan.”

FaZe Fridays features top gamers, creators, and streamers together to compete for cash prizes of $25K each week. That weekly prize will be provided by key partners and sponsors such as Xfinity, who sponsored the first four events in December and January, and will  continue to serve as a sponsor for the upcoming tournaments.

“We started this new weekly tournament to just have fun and it’s really taken off,” says FaZe Swagg. “We look forward to putting together teams each week, competing in different titles with different groups and we’re honestly just having a blast. Love that the fans love it as much as we do!”

Future sponsors and partners for FaZe Fridays are to be announced.

FaZe and GameSquare stockholders will vote later this month to approve an acquisition of the company. The deal to acquire FaZe would also be subject to approval by U.S. regulators, and other regulatory conditions.
