The International Esports Federation (IESF) announced this week that long-time IESF General Secretary Boban Totovski has been “unanimously” reappointed by the organization’s members at a recent board meeting. Totovski will serve an additional three years in the role, according to a release.

“I am thankful and honored to be reappointed as a General Secretary for the next 3 years. It is great to see the unity and the shared commitment by the board to steer this organization to the highest level,” Totovski said in a release. “I have to mention that this success relies on the synergy and huge effort within the Secretariat, without it, this would be impossible. We remain committed to ensuring the organization is the beacon of excellence in Esports.”

The IESF also announced on Wednesday that the organization now features approximately 130 registered member federations for the national qualifiers of the World Esports Championship 2024, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia later this year. The organization also claims that around 609 teams will compete across five game titles representing their respective countries. The national qualifiers officially kicked off on Tuesday.

The World Esports Championship

When the IESF announced its plans to host the event in Riyadh in September, HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Sultan Al Saud, president of the Saudi Esports Federation, president of the IESF, and VP of the Global Esports Federation, said the following: “We are thrilled to host the IESF’s 16th World Esports Championship in Saudi Arabia in 2024 to demonstrate our strong support for IESF.”

It is unclear what games players will be competing in 2024, though it is likely that the games played in 2023 will make a return – Dota 2, Counter-Strike, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and more. In its release, the IESF said that “the qualification process will include PC, mobile, and console games,” or five game titles.
