Tundra Esports CEO Carleton Curtis to Step Down

Published by

Carleton Curtis announced Monday that he will be stepping down from his roles as CEO of esports organization Tundra Esports and executive chairman of digital media portfolio company and Tundra parent company Sandstorm Media Group at the end of 2023.

Curtis will reveal the next steps in his professional journey at the beginning of 2024, according to a social media post on X/Twitter.

In the thread, Curtis thanks his soon-to-be former co-workers for their support and hard work and lists some of the organization’s biggest accomplishments over the years. He also said that Tundra co-founder Maxim Demin will take on the leader role following his exit.

Curtis joined UK-based Tundra Esports as interim CEO and executive board member in February of 2023, overseeing a number of milestones for the organization during his time there. He joined Sandstorm Media Group (the parent company of Tundra Esports, Ireland-based creative agency Epic Global, and UK-based production company Story Mode) as a non-executive board member in December of 2021, taking on the executive chairman role in February.

Prior to that, Curtis served as the executive chairman at London-based esports organization Guild Esports for more than a year, vice president of programming at Activision Blizzard for more than three years, and esports program director at Red Bull for more than a year.

Prior to entering the esports sector, he spent over a decade working in the world of sports media as an executive at Fox Sports, Fuel TV (part of the Fox Cable Network family), and Transworld Skateboarding (Time Inc.), among others.

Editor’s note: we added a slight correction noting that Maxim Demin will take on the leadership role following Curtis’ departure from the company.
