John DeHart Officially Announces Role at Allstar.gg

John DeHart formally announced Tuesday that he has joined cloud-based content creation platform Allstar.gg as its new director of business development. We say formally because DeHart has actually been with the company since October in stealth mode.

DeHart’s announcement follows the New York City based company’s announcement Tuesday that it has raised $12M USD in a new Series A funding round led by Columbus-based venture capital firm Drive Capital. Since its launch in 20189, Allstar.gg has raised $18M from investors including Mark Cuban, Studio VC, J-Ventures, Overwolf, and many others.

Prior to joining the company, DeHart worked for Vindex-owned gaming LAN center company Belong Gaming. When Vindex was acquired by Saudi Public Investment Fund-backed ESL FACEIT Group in March, the companies announced that Belong would not be part of that acquisition and would be spun off into a stand-alone entity. Shortly thereafter in July, The Esports Advocate reported exclusively that Belong would cease operations and lay off all staff in the U.S. DeHart and many of his colleagues were let go from the company at that time.

Prior to joining Belong/Vindex in July of 2022, DeHart spent 10 months at Engine Gaming & Media (which was acquired by GameSquare this year) as director of business development. He also did stints at eUnited (which—as TEA exclusively reported in January–shut down) and Team Liquid.
