LeagueSpot Renews Partnership With SUNY Esports

Chicago-based gaming and esports company LeagueSpot announced Thursday that it has renewed its partnership with the State University of New York Esports (SUNY Esports).

Financial terms and duration of the renewed deal were not disclosed,

Under the terms of this renewed partnership, SUNY Esports and LeagueSpot will work together to create a ROI by amplifying the program’s “impact on student recruitment, retention, and empowerment.” Also an important aspect, according to LeagueSpot, is a focus on creating a “safe and inclusive esports environment” at SUNY campuses that encourage participation “from all students.”

Further, LeagueSpot claims that enrollment in the statewide esports program has “grown by thousands” (or 400%) in the past three calendar school years,  due to the overall popularity of gaming and esports among students, and SUNY Esports’ and LeagueSpot’s work in collaborating to create a competitive and supportive environment.

SUNY first signed a partnership with LeagueSpot and Extreme Networks in September of 2020.

This renewed partnership follows news in October that LeagueSpot would continue its relationship with Oklahoma City, Oklahoma-based Epic Charter Schools.

LeagueSpot works mostly behind the scenes providing white label tournament and support services for esports programs at the enterprise level with schools, governments, and non-profit organizations. In the past it has worked with regional and local chapters of the YMCA and The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, among others.

SUNY is a network of accredited colleges and universities in the state of New York with a total of 64 affiliated schools.
