Riot Reveals the Official Anthem for Worlds 2023

Riot Games announced Tuesday the official anthem for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2023). The new anthem is called “GODS” and will be performed by popular k-pop group NewJeans. 

The new anthem was written by Riot Games principal composer Sebastien Najand and Alex Seaver of Mako, whose past co-writing credits include “Legends Never Die,” “RISE,” “Awaken,” and multiple songs on the Arcane soundtrack (on Netflix). “GODS” will debut Oct. 3 via Riot’s LoL Esports YouTube channel at 10 p.m. PT, with the track becoming available on other platforms shortly thereafter as a music track.

According to a release, the music video for the anthem will tell the story of Korean pro player Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s journey from amateur player to world championship winner: 

The 2023 Worlds music video will follow the story of Korean pro player Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu from his discovery of League in high school to his unbelievable run at Worlds This is not just the personal story of Deft and his unbreakable spirit, but the story of a team that overcame all odds to become World Champions.

Worlds 2023 will take place in Busan and Seoul, South Korea, from Oct. 10 – Nov. 19. The road to the championship begins on Oct. 10 with the Play-Ins (Oct. 10-15)  at the LoL Park in Seoul, followed by the Group Stage (Oct. 19-29 at the KBS Arena in Seoul, the quarter-finals: (Nov. 2-5) at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan, the semi-finals (Nov. 11-12) at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in  Busan, and the finals on Nov. 19 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
