Shopify Rebellion announced Wednesday that it has joined the League of Legends Championship Series, following the completion of a transaction with TSM for its LCS slot. TSM announced earlier this year that it planned to exit the LoL North American competitive scene earlier this year – at the end of the 2023 season. Sources tell Sports Business Journal esports reporter Kevin Hitt that Shopify Rebellion purchased the slot for somewhere between $10M – $15M USD.

“Entering League of Legends – one of the largest esports titles, with a rich competitive history – felt like an obvious next step for us as we continue to grow our presence in esports,” said Dario ’TLO’ Wünsch, esports program development lead at Shopify, in a release. “We’re excited to work with the former TSM roster and for them to compete in the LCS under the Shopify Rebellion banner.”

In its announcement, the organization said that the current TSM League of Legends roster will compete under the Shopify Rebellion banner beginning in the 2024 season.
