Esports tournament organizer and entertainment company BLAST announced Thursday that it has secured a new round of funding of approximately €12.7M (roughly $13.4M USD at today’s exchange rate, €1 = $1.05 USD, rounded up). The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and “a number of internal investors” took part in the round, according to a release.
BLAST said that this new funding will be used to grow and build its global esports ecosystems and shore up its in-house production, broadcast, and technology product offerings.
BLAST currently operates an esports studio in Brondby, Denmark, where it broadcasts events globally, and operates a live streaming platform called BLAST.tv. In 2023, BLAST worked with Valve, Ubisoft, and Epic Games to produce events for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (BLAST Premier), Rainbow Six Siege (BLAST Rainbow Six), and Fortnite (FNCS).
BLAST is one of a handful of top public-facing, global tournament organizers in the world; a dwindling list that includes the likes of PGL and platforms such as Rally Cry. Earlier this year, ESL FACEIT Group acquired U.S.-based Videnx and its wholly-owned esports production company Esports Engine.
