Scholastic esports company Generation Esports announced Monday it has partnered with Nintendo for the High School Esports League and Middle School Esports League.
Financial terms for the partnership were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this new deal, Nintendo games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 3 become part of the company’s competitive offerings for the fall season. The titles will be available at the start of the High School Esports League Fall Major 2023.
Generation Esports will also be distributing Nintendo Switch systems and software to multiple middle and high schools, enabling participation this fall season, the company said in a release.
Kansas City-based Generation Esports operates a number of scholastic and youth-based esports programs in North America including the High School Esports League (HSEL), Middle School Esports League (MSEL), and a Summer youth competition called Summer Storm.
Nintendo’s line-up of games joins other offerings for HSEL and MSEL including Rocket League, Valorant, Brawlhalla, Chess, Apex Legends, Halo Infinite, Counter-Strike 2, and Minecraft.
