The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has announced that esports would continue to become the official title of the 20th AICHI/NAGOYA Asian Games in Japan, following the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.

In general, the AICHI/NAGOYA Asian Games will feature 41 sports, including 32 sports from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, such as Wushu, Sepak Takraw (kick volleyball), Kabaddi, Kurash, Jujitsu, baseball, Karate, squash, and esports. The competition will be held in Nagoya, Japan, from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, 2026.

It’s not clear which esports title will be featured in AICHI/NAGOYA Asian Games, but it’s more likely the games that are popular in Japan or developed by Japanese game publishers, such as Capcom’s Street Fighter series will be prominently featured. Street Fighter V is also one of the seven esports titles of the Hangzhou Asian Games, alongside League of Legends, Dota 2, Three Dream Kingdoms, Honor of Kings, Peacekeeper Elite, and FIFA Online 4.

The competition will be held on Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 of this year, or 76 days away.
