Longtime Ginx TV Ltd CEO Michiel Bakker announced that he has decided to step down from the role of chief executive officer.  Bakker has served as CEO of the company for more than 13 years, joining the London-based esports and gaming media company in 2010.

In a statement posted on social media Tuesday,  Bakker said that it had been an “honor and a privilege to serve as the CEO of Ginx” and that he was “immensely proud of what we have achieved together.”

“I want to express my gratitude to the Board of Directors and our shareholders for their support throughout the years.  I also want to pay tribute to our loyal customers, advertisers and channel carriers alike, without whom we would not have a business in the first place. To the fantastic team at Ginx, I want to say a heartfelt thank you. Your dedication, creativity, and passion for all things gaming have been the driving force behind our success, you make Ginx what it is.  It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside each and every one of you. As I embark on a new chapter in life, more of which later, I will forever cherish the memories and experiences I have gained at Ginx.”

It is unclear, as of this writing, who will replace Bakker.

In February, The Esports Advocate reported that the company was seeking an acquisition or further investment and is being represented by London-based venture capital and private equity firm Capital A. The pitch to investors urged them to acquire the company, keep its full-time staff intact, and leave the day-to-day operations in the hands of Bakker. With Bakker stepping out, it’s unclear what Ginx plans to do moving forward.
