On June 17, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) held the opening ceremony for Asian national esports competition – Road to Asian Games. The Esports Advocate attended the event as the only Western esports-focused publication. During the opening of the event, automobile manufacturer Audi—the chief partner—awarded silver rings to five Chinese League of Legends and Honor of Kings players, including Ji “Abu” Xing, Shi “Ming” Senming, Su “Xiye” Hanwei, Zhang ”Laoshuai” Yuchen, and Wang “Alan” Tianlong.

All awarded players were team members that represented the Chinese national team and won the championship at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. Xing was the coach of the Chinese League of Legends team, Senming and Haiwei were players on the Chinese League of Legends team, and Yuchen and Tianlong were players on the Chinese Honor of Kings team.

TEA learned that these rings were manufactured by China National Gold Group Corporation (GNGC), the state-owned and the biggest mining company in China. Meanwhile, Audi provided the ideas behind the design of the rings.
