Florida-based esports and entertainment company Misfits Gaming Group announced Wednesday that Sam Toles has joined its executive team as the new chief media & entertainment officer. Toles will help Misfits transition further into being a “next-gen media and entertainment company,” according to a release.

Toles previously worked at iFit (or as it is more commonly known, NordicTrack) where he served as chief content officer. Over the last 23 years, Toles has held executive positions at the Bleacher Report, Vimeo, MGM, Warner Music Group, Paramount Pictures, Fremantle, Gaia Inc., and many other entertainment and technology companies. Interestingly enough, Toles served as a city council member in Cathedral City, California, for nearly four years.

In his new job, Toles will take a leadership role in Misfits’ media and entertainment department, help support content creators, grow the company’s “owned and operated social channels,” and develop new original content across multiple channels of distribution.

He joins other recent hires including Karl Jacobs, who joined the company as a co-owner and creative director; and AustinShow, who took on the role of content creator & executive producer. Misfits also recently announced the launch of a new Roblox-focused game studio called Pixel Playground—co-founded by Jacobs and leading Roblox streamer Kreekcraft, who has also joined as creative director.
