Epic Games Acquires Brazilian Developer AQUIRIS

Epic Games announced Wednesday that it has acquired Brazil-based game studio AQUIRIS. While financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, Epic said in its announcement that it “builds upon an investment that Epic made in AQUIRIS in early 2022.”

AQUIRIS will officially be called “Epic Games Brasil” moving forward, and will represent the “first Epic studio in Latin America.” AQUIRIS, best known for its developing the game franchises Wonderbox and the Horizon Chase, was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Porto Alegre.

The AQUIRIS team will work with Epic to develop further gaming and social experiences in Fortnite (we assume some of which will target the Brazilian market), but will continue to develop and operate its own games in the region.
