Astralis Announces Exit From NA Rainbow Six Esports

Publicly-traded esports organization Astralis (OMX: ASTGRP; OTCQX: ASGRF) announced Wednesday that it will be leaving Rainbow Six Siege esports. The Danish esports organization joined the North American Rainbow Six esports league in September of 2021 after acquiring players from Disrupt Gaming.

While it seems like there are a number of factors behind this decision, the company focused on “the development of the league agreement” as one of the key reasons for leaving.

“As a result of the development of the league agreement, the conditions for running a healthy team organization in Rainbow 6 have deteriorated significantly,” the company wrote in a statement. “Therefore, with regret, Astralis today announces the organization’s withdrawal from Rainbow 6 and further participation in the North American League.”

The company also said in its statement that its U.S. operations will remain open, in the hopes that “potential future activity” is possible in North America sometime in the future.

Astralis joins Brazil’s FURIA and North America’s TSM and Beastcoast in announcing an exit from the league due to a lack of support.

Astralis recently competed in the Six Invitational in Montreal earlier this month, placing a respectable fourth place in the finals and bringing home $170K USD in prize money—behind Oxygen Esports, W7M Esports, and the eventual winner, G2 Esports.
