Ohio-based social gaming community and competition platform eFuse promoted Halina Malik to the role of head of marketing on Thursday. Her previous role, head of content, is currently open as of this writing.

Malik joined eFuse as creative marketing manager in March of 2021 from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Prior to entering the business side of esports, Malik was a professional Call of Duty player for more than two years, competing in the MLG circuit (which was ultimately bought by Activision Blizzard) and other leagues.

Malik replaces Marcus D. Sallis, who left the company this week to join sports apparel company Fanatics as its new senior director, head of product marketing. Sallis left Electronic Arts (where he spent a year and nine months in a similar role) in May of 2022 to join eFuse as its VP, head of marketing.

In case you didn’t know, eFuse is a social gaming platform for competitive gamers to meet other players, compete in tournaments through the company’s eRena platform, and get discovered for their talents, whatever they may be. The company also operates esports news out Esports.gg, and facilitates a number of collegiate esports programs in the United States.
