Berlin-based esports organization G2 Esports announced Tuesday that it has partnered blockchain-powered decentralized cloud provider Theta Network to launch an AI agent for G2’s global fan community.

Financial terms of this new partnership were not disclosed.

With the help of Theta, G2 has launched a new AI agent called Sami. The new agent will provide users with an interactive way to get information on G2’s competitive activities across League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, and Call of Duty. The agent will also provide information about the organization’s match schedules, player rosters, tournament standings, and other competitive updates across all of G2’s active esports divisions.

G2’s mascot was trained and deployed on “Theta EdgeCloud’s distributed GPU infrastructure” and will be accessible through the G2 website and Discord channel.

“With Sami, we’re not just launching another AI chatbot, we’re launching AI the G2 way,” said Sabrina Ratih, COO of G2. “Partnering with Theta Labs allows us to combine powerful AI technology with G2’s tone of voice, so expect a chatbot that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We’re excited to provide a helpful and entertaining tool for our community to receive real-time updates.”

G2 joins other esports-related organizations that have deployed AI agents powered by Theta’s technology including Sentinels, PlayVS, Method, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Gen.G Esports, Cloud9, FlyQuest, NRG, and Evil Geniuses. The company also works with content creators such as YoBoyRoy; NHL teams such as the Las Vegas Knights and New Jersey Devils; and four of the top universities in South Korea. The company is backed financially by Samsung, Sony, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, and Creative Artists Agency, among others.
