MOONTON Games announced Monday that it has partnered with international tournament operator PGL to expand its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports footprint in Europe through some new tier-2 competition.
Financial terms of this new partnership were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this new partnership, PGL and MOONTON will work together to launch the inaugural PGL MLBB Challengers later this year, with the online component of the competition being facilitated in part by tournament platform Battlefy.
PGL MLBB Challengers will kick off with an open qualifier starting on Jan 13 (Tuesday) using a single-elimination, Best-of-One (BO1) format. The top eight qualifier teams will then advance to the PGL MLBB Challengers Main Event, scheduled for Jan. 16 – 18. Phase 1 matches will be played in a BO3 format, with later rounds in the Upper and Lower Brackets shifting to a BO5 format. The Grand Finals will culminate in a BO7 showdown, where the event’s inaugural champions will be crowned.
“Hosting our first MLBB tournament in Europe is a significant milestone for PGL Esports,” said Sebastian Hudisteanu, broadcast producer at PGL. “Mobile esports is growing rapidly across the region, and MLBB is at the forefront of this movement. This partnership with MOONTON Games will allow us to expand our esports portfolio and also gives us the opportunity to help shape the growth of mobile esports in Europe. We’re excited to connect with a passionate community, support emerging talent, and help shape a sustainable and thriving MLBB Esports ecosystem in the region.”
Registration for the PGL MLBB Challengers Open Qualifier is now open on Battlefy.
