Luminosity Gaming has been sold to former owner and founder Steve Maida, according to multiple social media posts and an official announcement late Friday. After a rather rocky period of ownership by Vertiqal—including accusations by content creators and other former Luminosity employees and contractors of delayed payments for work rendered—Vertiqal has found a buyer who is very familiar with the brand.
According to one social media post from the official Luminosity account, the organization has been sold to former owner of Luminosity Gaming and former co-founder of Enthusiast Gaming Steve Maida. According to the official announcement, the following deal was made:
“The purchase price paid by the buyer for the Luminosity asset was C$300,000 plus a C$125,000 payment payable to Vertiqal once revenue is collected in an amount of $125,000 pursuant to the Sales Agency Agreement. Vertiqal will retain all historical debts, liabilities, and unpaid creator obligations that arose prior to the change in ownership. The buyer did not acquire or assume these obligations and will focus exclusively on the future operation and rebuilding of the Luminosity brand.”
In a LinkedIn post Steve Maida announced that he reacquired the company he helped found and co-owned at one point:

While social media posts from Luminosity suggest that active creators who were owed money “have been paid in full,” The Esports Advocate could not independently verify the veracity of that claim. Several posts following the announcement suggest otherwise, but pursuant to the deal, the new owner has not taken on liability for past debts, which remain with Vertiqal Studios, per the announcement.
Former owner Enthusiast Gaming divested several of its business sectors to Vertiqal Studios in September 2025 including Luminosity Gaming and related assets, along with its direct-sales operation. On Aug. 19, 2025, Enthusiast Gaming announced a binding letter of intent to sell its direct-sales business line—including Omnia Media, GameCo Esports Canada (operator of Luminosity Gaming), and other related assets—to Vertiqal Studios for C$900,000 CAD (or roughly $653,000 USD) in cash (previously paid as a non-refundable deposit), plus assumption of all existing and ongoing liabilities, estimated at approximately $2.6 million.”
