BLAST opens calls for proposals for cities interested in hosting events in 2027, 2028.

Global esports tournament organizer BLAST announced Thursday that it has opened its host destination process for 2027 and 2028, inviting cities and regions to show their interest in hosting future major live arena events across Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Fortnite, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and Brawl Stars.

In 2025, BLAST produced 15 arena shows across 10 countries in four continents, collectively selling more than 190,000 tickets. BLAST said in its announcement that it plans 40 live arena events worldwide.

For host cities, local large-scale esports competitions from BLAST and other tournament organizers have the potential to have a local economic impact on tourism, local commerce, and travel and lodgings. It can also serve as an opportunity to create pathways for other major events such as music concerts, sporting events, trade shows, conferences, and more.

BLAST cites its BLAST.tv Austin Major in 2025 as an example:

“BLAST.tv Austin Major was is an example of the value esports events can bring destinations, a report prepared by Angelou Economics revealed that the Counter-Strike Major generated over $102 million in total economic impact, making it one of the most impactful sporting events ever hosted in North America with fans attending from all 50 states and 37 countries.”

Those interested in participating in the process can find more information at Blast.tv. Those interested must do so by Feb. 12, with bid submission deadlines set for March 16 for 2027 events and July 3 for 2028.
