North American esports organization 100 Thieves announced Monday that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with crypto casino platform Roobet for a Counter-Strike 2 team that will compete under the name “100T Roobet.”
Financial terms and duration of the new deal were not disclosed.
The new partnership will focus on promoting the betting brand on its various Counter-Strike 2 channels for content and social media platforms. According to what we understand, the brand will be promoted through collaborative creative content, branding, and on jerseys, but will not focus on any efforts towards live stream gambling by the team or its players.
This new deal follows a partnership announced in September between the crypto casino platform and former Call of Duty professional player (eight-time Call of Duty Major Champion) and 100 Thieves founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag.
As The Esports Advocate reported in September, Roobet is not available for use in the United States, which is primarily where the audience of 100 thieves would be advertising to reside. Roobet is also not legal to use in Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Columbia, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, North Korea, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United States (including the Virgin Islands, U.S. Minor Outlying Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, Marianas Islands, and American Samoa), and Vatican City. More details about restrictions on specific games can be found on this Roobet help page.
Roobet joins other 100 Thieves sponsors and partners, including Lexus, AT&T, Adidas, Oakley, Crocs, and Razer, among others.
