The International Esports Federation (IESF) announced that the World Esports Championships 2025 in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will be hosted by the Malaysia Esports Federation in Kuala Lumpur from Dec. 1 – 7.
Serving as the host and organizer, the Malaysia Esports Federation will bring together 20 nations and 28 national teams, with 16 teams competing in the MLBB Open and 12 teams in the MLBB Women’s division.
The IESF also revealed that all other official WEC competitions for titles will take place sometime in “the first half of 2026, with host city and dates to be announced soon.”
“This step allows IESF to deliver the highest standards of excellence while safeguarding the esports ecosystem for future generations,” the announcement noted.
“We are thrilled to confirm Kuala Lumpur as the host city for WEC25 MLBB, under the leadership of MESF,” said Boban Totovski, general secretary of the International Esports Federation. “This event highlights IESF’s mission to unite nations and strengthen esports worldwide, with 20 nations and 28 teams competing across both Open and Women’s divisions. We believe WEC25 MLBB will set a new standard of excellence while celebrating the spirit of fair competition.”
In May The Esports Advocate reported that the IESF was negotiating with officials in Lviv, Ukraine, to host its flagship event later this year, but that deal fell through. Sources told us at the time that the organization was facing financial challenges and that it was struggling to secure a host city for its flagship championship event in 2025.
