Gambling company 1XBET announced Friday that it has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Argentinian esports organization 9z Team.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the deal, 9z will promote the brand on social media channels, in curated video content and live streams, and during events where gambling sponsors are permitted to be on display.
9z Team is a leading esports organizations from Argentina that primarily competes in Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG Mobile. In 2022 9z became the first non-Brazilian team from Latin America to qualify for a Counter-Strike Major and has earned more than half a million dollars in prize money, most of which has come from Counter-Strike 2 related victories. In 2024 it won the iReLEAGUE Global Final and also took 3rd-4th place at Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024. This year the team took second place in the FiReLEAGUE Buenos Aires tournament.
1XBET currently sponsors a number of esports organizations including Talon Esports, MIBR, OG Esports, Tundra, and Team Spirit, and football clubs such as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
1XBET is an online gambling company, with a Curaçao e-gaming license (online gambling). Companies that operate solely with such a license are often referred to as “gray market,” as it only holds one license in Curaçao, and the companies who hold them typically are in charge of their own compliance in other jurisdictions.
1XBET has had its fair share of controversy in the past, as detailed in this report from Dot Esports.
