North American scholastic and collegiate esports company PlayVS announced a new partnership with National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE).
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this new six year partnership, NJCAAE has been named the official two-year college partner of the PlayVS College League (PCL), which was formally launched in July. Both organizations will work together to “introduce new competitive pathways and resources designed to help two-year college esports programs flourish.” In addition, PlayVS will serve as the official platform for all future NJCAAE esports competitions.
“We are proud to align with PlayVS and bring even more resources, structure, and visibility to our growing community of two-year collegiate esports programs,” said Jeff White, executive director of the NJCAAE. “This partnership represents a major step forward in elevating the NJCAAE experience from match operations to championship productions and positions our member institutions for long-term success in a rapidly evolving esports landscape.”
PlayVS announced its new competitive collegiate league for North America, PlayVS College League, in July. We noted at the time that the company was still negotiating with some existing conferences, and NJCAAE was one of them.
The new league hopes to “build the most comprehensive academic esports ecosystem, supporting students from middle school through college and opening doors to career-aligned opportunities in broadcast, management, and media,” the company said at the time in its formal announcement. The move to create a collegiate esports league for North America is the natural progression for the company following its acquisition of collegiate esports company PlayFly Esports and scholastic esports company Generation Esports back in April.
