Cosworth has entered into a multi-year partnership with iRacing, becoming the simulation platform’s official data analysis partner. The deal makes Cosworth’s Pi Toolbox software available to more than 350,000 active iRacing users at no additional cost, with a version designed to natively read the platform’s telemetry (.ibt) files.
iRacing, founded in 2003, is one of the most established racing simulation platforms and has formal partnerships with NASCAR, INDYCAR, and the FIA. It serves as both a consumer simulation platform and an esports ecosystem, hosting professional leagues such as the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series. With over 350,000 active users, it is widely regarded as a benchmark in sim racing for its authenticity and organized competition structure.
Cosworth is a U.K.-based engineering company with more than six decades in top-level motorsport, supplying electronics, data systems, and engines across Formula One, endurance racing, and rally. Its Pi Toolbox software has become a standard telemetry solution for professional teams, used to analyze driver inputs and vehicle behavior. The partnership marks the first time the platform is directly embedded into a consumer simulation product.
Cosworth also recently entered the sim racing hardware space. At the ADAC Sim Racing EXPO in October 2024, it launched the CCW Mk2 Pro Sim steering wheel, developed with SimRep Engineering. This wheel closely replicates its FIA-certified motorsport steering wheel used in LMP2, IndyCar, and Super Formula. Pricing starts at approximately $9,200 (excluding VAT) for the base version, and around $10,300 for the advanced version. These wheels are also modeled in many car classes within iRacing, making them visually familiar to users.
Pi Toolbox’s integration into iRacing eliminates the need for converters or third-party tools and gives sim racers access to the same level of telemetry analysis available to real-world race teams. A new feature set to launch later this year will introduce live remote telemetry for the first time in iRacing, enabling data to be shared instantly between drivers, engineers, and coaches. iRacing and Cosworth will also provide pre-built workbooks, tutorials, and other resources tailored to help users interpret and apply performance data.
The agreement extends beyond analytics. Cosworth branding will appear in iRacing’s upcoming console titles, including iRacing Arcade, and in new competition formats such as the Cosworth Cup, which debuts in September with open-wheel cars.
For the sim racing ecosystem, the partnership’s significance lies in talent development and performance benchmarking. Making advanced telemetry broadly accessible allows teams, coaches, and organizers to apply standardized metrics when evaluating drivers. This could strengthen the role of sim racing as a training and scouting environment for both esports and traditional motorsport. Simultaneously, the availability of Pi Toolbox at no additional cost for iRacing users may undercut the niche market served by independent developers or setup shops offering subscription-based telemetry analysis tools such as Trophy.ai, VRS, or GNG’s Virtual Coach.
For Cosworth, the deal expands its presence into a large and growing community of sim racers and esports participants. For iRacing, it adds a differentiator against rival platforms by integrating a tool with established credibility in professional motorsports. The partnership will be formally unveiled at iRacing’s season launch on Sept. 9, with Pi Toolbox access and the Cosworth Cup series scheduled to go live on Sept. 16.
