Newtown, Connecticut-based Affinity Esports Group announced Wednesday that it has acquired CT Esports Academy and expanded its partnership with the Riverbrook Regional YMCA.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The company said in its announcement that this acquisition will help bring grassroots esports programming and community to the town of Wilton. Affinity Esports Group operates studios in several Connecticut locations including Newtown, Milford, and now Wilton, and works with a statewide network of mobile partners.
Affinity Esports Group claims to deliver “structured, inclusive programs in welcoming spaces where players of all ages can build skills, learn, and connect.” The company primarily works with schools, local recreational departments, and nonprofits such as the YMCA.
“This acquisition allows us to unify and elevate the esports experience for Wilton families and demonstrate what we can do alongside a partner like the Riverbrook Regional YMCA,” said Mark Kilpatrick, founder and CEO of Affinity Esports Group. “We’re honored to build on CT Esports Academy’s foundation and offer new opportunities for learning, growth, and healthier gaming.”

Starting this fall, Affinity Esports Group will offer after-school programs, game nights, social gaming clubs, educational classes, club teams, and birthday parties in the Wilton area. For families seeking weekly care options, the “After-School Study & Play Club” will run weekdays from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., with school-to-YMCA transportation also available, according to the announcements. Private coaching programs in gaming, content creation, and coding will also be offered.
