Chennai, India–based tournament organizer Skyesports announced Tuesday that it has launched Gaming Mahotsav, an entertainment culture-focused festival that promises to bring together gaming, comics, cosplay, live music, cinema, content creator showcases, and regional culture together under one banner.
The event will go on tour across India beginning Aug. 30 – 31, in the Chennai Trade Centre under the name “Gaming Thiruvizha.”
Each event will have its own “unique regional identity,” according to organizers, featuring “local language, culture, and fan interests.” In all, Skyesports plans to run these events in six cities. Tickets for the Chennai edition of the event will be available exclusively on the KYN app.
While LAN competitions will take place at Gaming Mahotsav events, Skyesports did not mention any specific IPs in its announcement, save an under-16 Chess championship that will see the top players “meet in Pune to determine the India champion.”
“Gaming Mahotsav is our love letter to India’s pop culture fans. This is not just a gaming event, it’s a melting pot of regional identities, fandoms, and creativity,” Skyesports Founder and CEO Shiva Nandy said in a release. “Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, anime lover, chess player, or just want to vibe with creators and music, this festival is for you.”
