Red Bull announced this week that its pop-up event Red Bull Pin Drop will be coming to Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida, to celebrate and promote Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.
The Red Bull Pin Drop: Kona Skatepark pop-up event will take place on Aug. 2, from noon to 8 p.m. ET, and will feature both virtual skateboarding and real-world competition involving Red Bull athletes.
The competition will pair up eight gamers with eight professional skateboarders in team-based duos. Gamers have 90 seconds to achieve the highest possible score on the Kona Skatepark map in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, while their skateboarding counterparts will attempt to take on the real Kona bowls for 50 seconds. Skateboarders will be graded on style, creativity, and technical skill. From there scores will be combined to determine the “ultimate Red Bull Pin Drop Champion.”
Red Bull Pin Drop will also feature game play opportunities onsite for visitors that includes hands-on time with the game, skate competitions, and more.
The competition is being facilitated through a partnership with Activision and will feature Red Bull Athlete and two-time Thrasher Skater of the Year Jamie Foy (also a playable character in the game), Red Bull athlete Zion Wright also a playable character in the game) and Red Bull athlete Jake Wooten.
Developed by Iron Galaxy and published by Activision, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. was released on July 11 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows. You can learn more about Tony Hawk’s return to the world of videogames at www.tonyhawkthegame.com.
