North American esports organization 100 Thieves announced Friday via social media that its time competing in League of Legends Championship of the Americas League (LTA) is over when the 2025 season is concluded. In 2024, both league owner Riot Games and 100 Thieves came to an agreement to sell its LTA slot and give the organization a provisional guest slot for the 2025 season.
The organization issued a lengthy statement on Friday via X/Twitter announcing the move away from Riot’s professional League of Legends League of the Americas, explaining that its tenure in the league was temporary following the name change from LCS to LTA and the general reorganization that combined North American leagues with Brazil:
Riot Games issued a separate lengthy statement on Friday about 100 Thieves officially leaving at the end of the 2025 season. Riot’s statement in part, wished the organization well and thanked it and its fans for their contribution to the space since 2018:
“100 Thieves will continue to compete through the third and final split of the 2025 season before concluding their time in the LTA. Their contributions to LoL Esports span nearly a decade—from their debut appearance in the 2018 LCS Finals to capturing their first LCS championship in 2021. In 2025, they stepped up once again, helping to support the successful transition from the LCS to the LTA during a pivotal moment in the evolution of North American League of Legends.
“We are incredibly grateful to 100 Thieves for their collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to the community.”
While it is exiting from League of Legends esports in North America, 100 Thieves still competes in Apex Legends, Marvel Rivals, Street Fighter 6, Call of Duty League (LA Thieves), and Valorant. The organization is also a partnered team with the Saudi Arabian government-backed Esports World Cup.
