Switzerland-based esports organization Team BDS announced Monday that it has appointed Alexandre Lopez as its new chief executive officer as part of a broad overhaul for the company. Lopez, who joined the company in 2020 as the Responsable de la stratégie (or head of strategy), was promoted to director and given a board seat in 2021. Prior to joining Team BDS, Lopez served as the manager and coach of Valencia CF Esports.
In addition to announcing a new CEO, Team BDS said in a lengthy statement posted on social media that it will launch a large-scale rebranding effort in the coming months, create a new non-profit division focused on youth and “hospitalized children,” and open a new headquarters by the end of the year in Geneva. In case you are not familiar with the origin of the name, Team BDS was named after its founder, Patrice Bailo De Spoelberch, when it launched in early 2019.
“We want to build a brand that reflects who we are: bold, ambitious, and deeply human. This rebranding will showcase our evolution, our energy, and our desire to unite people beyond the competitive scene,” said Lopez in a statement published on social media Monday (seen below).
Team BDS currently competes in League of Legends (LEC, LFL), Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, EA Sports FC 25, Chess, and Call of Duty: Warzone, among others, though many of these rosters were created to give the Swiss organization more competitive coverage for the Saudi Arabian government-backed Esports World Cup, which takes place later this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Team BDS is one of the 40 esports organizations around the world that were selected for its 2025 Club Partner Program, announced in March. The organization is also a founding member of the French Union of Professional Esports Clubs (UFCEP), which aims to promote the esports industry in France.
The company’s current sponsors include Bausch & Lomb, XBORG, AMAG, Pringles, AVATARZ, Logitech G, and FNAC, among others.
