The Chengdu Sports Bureau, the official government body in charge of sports development and administration in the city, released a list of all sports/esports events in Chengdu, China,  for the second half of the year, and it showed that the BLAST Dota 2 Slam event will be held in Chengdu in November. The specific date of the event was not disclosed. The prize money for the previous BLAST Slam II in Copenhagen was $1 million USD.

Tournament organizer BLAST has not announced this information publicly on its official website or social media, and would represent the first international Dota 2 event held in China since the pandemic.

Sources close to the Chengdu Sports Bureau told The Esports Advocate that the local tournament operator would be the state-owned Chengdu Broadcasting Company.

In November, the city of Chengdu will host three large-scale international esports events, including the League of Legends World Championship Grand Final, Dota 2 BLAST Slam, and ESL FACEIT Group’s Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) from Nov. 7-9.

Chengdu served as the host city for the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and IEM Chengdu in 2024, and has become a leading esports hosting city globally.
