Riot Games enjoyed a major for employees and leaders of its Valorant esports division on Tuesday at the 46th Annual Sports Emmy Awards in New York. The company won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Esports Championship Coverage for its part in the Valorant Champions 2024 Grand Final, which featured Edward Gaming vs Team Heretics.

Riot Games Global Head of Valorant Esports & Valorant Champions Tour Commissioner Leo Faria accepted the award on behalf of the company during the awards show.

In social media post about the award, Faria said:

“Everything we do is for and about players, but it’s nice to have a chance to recognize the amazing team that works so hard in front and behind the cameras to produce our shows every year. Congrats to the entire crew, producers, broadcasters, on-air talent, observers, creators, musicians, performers, devs, marketers, and the 1000+ people involved in making VALORANT Champions happen. It’s an honor to represent you. Congrats on the Emmy!”

Riot beat out other nominees including Call of Duty League for the 2024 Call of Duty League Championship Weekend (OpTic Texas vs New York Subliners); PGL for The International 2024; ESL FACEIT Group for the IEM Cologne 2024 Finals (Team Vitality vs NaVi); and the League of Legends esports team for its coverage of the League of Legends Worlds 2024 Final (T1 Esports vs BiliBili Gaming).

The Sports Emmys added esports coverage as a category in 2019, with the inaugural award given out in 2020 to Riot Games for the 2019 League of Legends World Final.

More details on all of the other winners of the 2025 Sports Emmys can be found in this official release.
