Financial terms were not disclosed
Officially launching on April 27, the League of Legends tournament will be an open-for-all, online-only amateur competition with a total prize pool of INR 10,00,000, or roughly $11,695 USD (at an exchange rate of INR 85 = $1 USD as of April 23, 2025). Legends Ascend South Asia is set to run for four months and will feature three open qualifiers, a round-robin league stage, and double-elimination playoffs.
The winning team will qualify for the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) Wildcard Playoffs, where teams will ultimately battle for a spot in the LCP promotion and relegation tournament. The competition is open to teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives
“Legends Ascend is about giving players in South Asia a real shot at competitive League of Legends. It’s a step towards building a stronger, more connected community where players and fans can all find more ways to play, engage, grow, and be part of something bigger,” Riot Games Country Manager for India & South Asia, Arun Rajappa, said in a release.
Facilitated by Aftermath Ventures, all matches will be broadcast on the company’s FragNation YouTube Channel. Registrations for the Legends Ascend South Asia first qualifier open on April 27 (more details here).
