North American esports organization Sentinels recently teamed up with Amazon MGM Studios and Sentinels content creator Tarik Celik to promote the official launch of the feature-length action movie starring Ben Affleck, The Accountant 2.
Through a deal brokered by gaming marketing agency Livewire (financial terms were not disclosed), Ben Affleck, Amazon, Sentinels, and Tarik came together live on Tarik’s stream as well as a watch party for the recent VCT Americas Stage 1 group stage finale against 2G. Affleck, who regularly plays Valorant (his son is also a big fan of Sentinels star player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo and the team and has apparently convinced him to attend some of the events).
Affleck sat in on the watch party alongside fans and creators, as Sentinels claimed a 2-0 victory over 2G. Affleck’s guest appearance generated five million views across social media and video platforms within “days of activation from Sentinels and Tarik,” thanks to a social media campaign on X, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
The organization describes this event as “one of Sentinels’ most impactful cross-promotional campaigns to date.” Key moments, according to Sentinels, included Affleck’s surprise appearance, him picking up the Sentinels Masters trophy, Tarik’s official YouTube recap, the Sentinels match recap, and Sentinels match vlog. Graphics for the film were also on display during Tarik’s stream (the YouTube video above).
The film, only in theatres starting April 25 (Friday), sees Ben Affleck reprise the role of forensic accountant and mathematics savant Christian Wolff (the mysterious and dangerous figure known only as “The Accountant”) teaming up with his estranged younger brother Brax (played by Jon Bernthal, star of The Walking Dead and The Punisher) to hunt down an assassin. The film was directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Way Back, Warrior) and written by Bill Dubuque (The Accountant, Netflix series Ozark).
