Israel-based developer WaveClear Ltd. announced this week the launch of a new AI-powered competitive gaming coaching for PC called WaveClear. The app, which currently focuses on those competing in Riot Rames’ popular PC MOBA League of Legends, uses what the company describes as “proprietary AI technology that assesses a gamer’s focus level in real time, along with the gamer’s mental readiness for improvement and/or recovery.”
The developers claim that WaveClear is capable of first analyzing specific areas of a player’s performance, such as focus, mechanics, and stress levels across a few matches, and then creating a personalized training widget. Thus, whenever a “drop in focus is detected during a match, WaveClear’s Focus Tracker widget guides the gamer towards recovery while it also offers game-specific skills improvement tips.” As players improve their skills, the program evolves to tackle other areas where there can be improvement in performance.
“More than 80% of competitive gamers are stuck in the lower rankings – ‘Elo-hell’ – trying to rank up for years and unable to, despite using apps, watching hundreds of videos and attending gaming boot camps,” noted Yuval Gelbard, CEO and founder of WaveClear, in a release. “I was one of those gamers. After trying to improve using every available solution, I realized none of them addressed the most important factor in performance improvement – mindset – so I decided to create an app that did.”
WaveClear also said in its announcement this week that while its current focus is on League of Legends, it plans to support multiple PC games in the future, as well as other gaming platforms, including mobile, console, and cloud-based games. Other plans for the app in the future include helping streamers achieve more engagement, helping professional teams and their coaches gain new insights on how to improve, and helping broadcasters with developing new types of content for their audiences.
Finally, to determine if the mindset training developed for the app has benefits outside of gaming, WaveClear has partnered with the gaming and esports program of the Academy of Art University to conduct new academic-level research studies commencing in Q2 2025.
WaveClear is available for free on the Overwolf App Store and is financially supported through ads from the Overwolf advertising network. It requires no registration, personal information, or special permissions to use.
