The French Union of Professional Esports Club (UFCEP), a new association representing the top organizations in France, has been formally launched. The founding members of this association include Team Vitality, Karmine Corp, Gentle Mates, Galions, GameWard, Team AEGIS, BK ROG Esports, This is Japon Corp., JobLife, Mandatory, Team BDS, and Solary.
According to a release, the goal of this new union is to “increase the visibility and credibility of esports worldwide and elevate the global esports landscape by fostering positive change on both the international and local levels.”
The group will also work on the creation of a “streamlined legal framework” to aid players in the region, tackling topics such as visa processing during transfer periods, and the threat of cyberbullying, among other initiatives.
The leadership include Team Vitality CEO Nicolas Maurer, who will serve as its president; Karmine Corp CEO Arthur Perticoz, who will serve as general secretary; Galions CEO Alexander Job, who takes on the role of treasurer; and other members who will serve in advisory roles– Gentle Mates Director General Xavier Oswald, GameWard/Sigma Esports President David Laniel, and Team AEGIS Founder and French caster Kévin “Shaunz” Ghanbarzadeh.
Elected members of the steering committee will represent the interests of the UFCEP and support the players, fans, and clubs, and plan to work closely with governmental bodies, tournament organisers, parliamentarians, economic and institutional decision-makers, and publishers.
