The International Esports Federation announced Monday that it has added five new national federations to its ranks, bringing the total number of member federations to 151. The new federations joining the IESF include Botswana – Botswana Electronic Sports Federation; Central African Republic – Central African Association of Electronic Games; Equatorial Guinea – Equatorial Guinean Association of Electronic Sports; Gabon – Gabon Esports and Associated Disciplines; and Tanzania – eSports Federation of Tanzania. These new member federations will take part in the IESF 2025 Season, the organization said.
“Welcoming these five nations into the IESF family is a proud moment for us,” IESF General Secretary Boban Totovski said in a release. “It reflects the continued expansion of esports and the dedication of national federations to providing opportunities for athletes and communities. We remain committed to supporting our members and working together to drive esports forward.”
The organization said in a release that adding these new members is part of its continuing “mission to promote esports as a recognized and sustainable sport while providing platforms for athletes worldwide,” adding that these additions also represent an expansion into the African continent.
The IESF announced the official titles that would be part of its 2025 season in February, which included Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, and Konami’s football game eFootball. In January it announced that 136 nations registered teams to participate in its 2025 season, though a location for its 2025 World Esports Championship Finals has yet to be announced.
In February it was revealed that the European Esports Championship 2025 would be hosted in Pristina, Kosovo, from July 9 – 13 and feature competitions in Counter-Strike 2 (men’s and women’s), and Dota 2.
