The International Esports Federation (IESF) announced this week that the European Esports Championship 2025 will be hosted in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. The competition is being facilitated in partnership with the Esports Federation of Kosovo, and with the support of the Government and the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports. Pristina is home to more than 220,000 residents, but represents the most populated area in the small European country.
IESF says that the European Esports Championship 2025 will bring together more than 250 athletes from Europe to compete in PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Counter-Strike 2 (CS2 Open and CS2 Women), and Dota 2. The event is tentatively set to take place sometime in July. The Esports Federation of Kosovo will oversee the execution of this event, according to the announcement.
“Bringing the European Esports Championship to Kosovo is a tremendous milestone for our Esports community,” said Esports Federation of Kosovo President Altin Preniqi. “With the support of our government and the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports, we are ready to showcase our nation’s passion for Esports and provide a world-class stage for Europe’s best athletes. This event is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of Esports and a chance to inspire the next generation.”
Funding details—including fees paid by the local government to the IESF—were not disclosed.
