North American esports organization Evil Geniuses announced Thursday a partnership with self-described decentralized cloud infrastructure company Theta Labs.
Financial terms of this partnership were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this new deal, Theta Labs will help deploy a new AI-chatbot powered by Theta EdgeCloud that will bring to life Evil Geniuses recently announced critter mascot Meesh.
This chatbot will be integrated into Evil Geniuses official Discord server and its website, www.evilgeniuses.gg. Fans can trash talk, take trivia challenges, and have “personalized interactions” with the mascot at launch. Fans will also be able to get information from Meesh including EG match schedules, team standings, roster information and history, player stats and past highlights.
Theta EdgeCloud is described by the company as a “hybrid cloud-edge AI computing platform, powered by the Theta Edge Network with over 30,000 distributed GPUnodes.”
“This partnership with EG comes on the heels of our collaboration with NHL’s Las Vegas Knights, esports teams, and a dozen academic research labs, delivering next generation agentic AI chatbots to millions of users,” said Mitch Liu, co-founder and CEO of Theta Labs. “I’m excited to see EG’s vision for their community come to life through EdgeCloud as we empower them to create highly immersive AI fan experiences fully integrated into their Discord and website. In the future, we’re looking forward to creating even more fun, interactive, autonomous AI agents for EG’s global esports fans.”
The AI-powered agent is set to launch on EG’s website and its Discord server during the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 1.
