Asian gaming lifestyle platform Talon Esports (TALON) and French football powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have announced the conclusion of their long-standing League of Legends partnership. The move comes as both organizations realign their strategic priorities.
Originally formed in June 2020 under the moniker PSG Talon, the collaboration combined PSG’s international brand recognition with TALON’s competitive pedigree across Asia’s esports scene. Over four years, the alliance yielded impressive competitive results—including four World Championship qualifications and seven championship trophies in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS). Yet, as of January 5, 2025, both organizations confirmed they will no longer co-brand their League of Legends roster, which will revert to Talon.
Despite parting ways, the two organizations emphasized the mutual respect and synergy that characterized their relationship. “We take immense pride in the successes we’ve achieved together, and this partnership will be remembered as one of the most iconic collaborations in esports history,” TALON said in its official statement.
While the League of Legends partnership concludes, the synergy between the two brands remains partially intact. TALON confirmed via social media that its Rainbow Six Siege team still carries PSG branding, signaling a more nuanced approach moving forward. PSG, which operates multiple teams in other titles such as EA FC, Arena of Valor, and previously Dota 2, continues to see esports as an integral part of its global outreach, albeit with a refined focus after the LoL team’s rebranding.
Both TALON and PSG emphasize that they remain “open to future collaborations when the right opportunities arise.” In an industry often marked by short-lived sponsorships, the conclusion of this era may signal a recalibration more than a farewell—one that could see a reemergence of their alliance down the line.
