Sources close to ESL FACEIT Group and Hero Esports confirmed to The Esports Advocate this week that a major DreamHack event is set to take place in Shanghai, China, in May. It will be the first time that DreamHack has been hosted in China, as well as in Asia since 1994. An official announcement is expected soon, according to our sources.

In addition, sources confirmed to TEA that the Chinese esports company Hero Esports, formerly VSPO, will be the operator for DreamHack Shanghai. The event will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC). In addition, Hero Esports’ multi-title esports event the Asian Champions League (ACL) will be a part of DreamHack.

As of this writing, it has been announced that ACL will include Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and mobile game Honor of Kings.

In terms of sponsorship and partnership, sources tell TEA that DreamHack Shanghai will have one exclusive strategic partner, with paying ï¿¥500K RMB ($68K USD); two industrial partners paying ï¿¥250K ($34K) each; and six special partners paying ï¿¥150K ($20K) each.

The Esports Advocate has reached out to Hero Esports for confirmation, and will update the story if we receive a response. It should be noted that the DreamHack official Weibo was created on Dec. 30. The account has started promoting the event and is likely operated by Hero Esports.
