The most popular esports match in history occurred this weekend between Chinese esports organization Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and South Korean organization T1 during the Worlds 2024 Grand Finals in London at the O2 Arena, according to viewership data collected by Esports Charts.

That moment occurred in the final of the best-of-five series of matches between the two finalists, reaching around 6.94M peak viewers and also made history by being only the second esports tournament to pass the 6M peak viewership mark. Ultimately, T1 would secure the win and the championship 3-2, but it was a back-and-forth that kept fans engaged across the five game series.

Esports Charts also said that Vietnamese language broadcasts broke a record during the event with 1.11M PV—the Southeast Asian language to cross with 1M peak concurrent viewers in professional video gaming after Indonesian and Tagalog (Philippines) and the tenth language overall to cross this mark. Other languages lifted up by this final included English, Chinese, Swedish, and Czech.

Riot has not released its own viewership figures, as of this writing. Esports Charts likely did not include viewership figures coming out of China (as it typically excludes them, and calls them unreliable).
