International esports organization Team Liquid announced the launch of MyBlue, a native fan engagement platform built on blockchain-based smart contract platform Sui, through its ongoing partnership with Mysten Labs, (the “original contributor to Sui”). The new platform is part of its ongoing partnership with Mysten Labs, which began in February, and builds on the company’s original fan engagement platform Liquid+, which launched in late 2020.
Featuring its mascot Blue, fans can customize digital items earned by completing quests (“interacting with Team Liquid”) which might include “watching live esports matches or player streams, responding to social media posts, chatting with the community on Discord, submitting memes or words of encouragement to teams, answering quizzes, and more,” according to a release.
Additional rewards such as signed jerseys, store discounts, in-game currency, exclusive merchandise and player access, and experiences like trips may also be earned on the platform, according to Team Liquid’s announcement.
“Seeing Team Liquid push the boundaries of what’s possible in esports and onchain experiences is extremely validating,” said Anthony Palma, head of gaming partnerships at Mysten Labs. “Through integrating Sui, Team Liquid fans will have a frictionless journey on MyBlue, acquiring collectibles to showcase their fandom without the need for a deep understanding of the underlying blockchain technology the platform is built on. Through our partnership with Team Liquid, Mysten Labs gives MyBlue users a unique experience to customize avatars, complete quests, and earn rewards.”
Team Liquid plans to host a launch day event on Thursday (Nov. 14) twitch.tv/teamliquid, from Noon to 4 PM PT.
